Cut Down At The Big Bamboo

After several unsuccessful attempts to booze it up at the Big Bamboo Lounge, I am sorry to say it's doors seem closed for good.

The Bamboo was once a popular hangout with designers and artists who were helping to make Disney what it is today. The Pacific Islands interior was accented by mementos left behind by the workers. Original sketches and drawings were often passed off as tips.

I asked a bartender at a chain restaurant up the street where I could find dives for the locals on 192. After informing me there were none, he added, "The only reason we exist is because Disney is here."

Bamboo's outpost tower and Red Cross truck are still visible. They keep a watchful eye on the empty cup across the street known as Xanadu.

Update 4/02
John Kerr informs Back on Tack that the Big Bamboo is alive and well. Hours are 3pm to 2am.

Update 11/01
Activity seems to have sprouted back up around the Big Bamboo. A large flag now hangs outside and all along the watch tower Christmas lights twinkle. The place is very hard to see at night, but judging by the parking lot, it is being found.
