Locations Are A Cut Above

A series of massive arches in Lakeland, Florida may be recognizable to obsessive movie fans. They belong to the Southgate Shopping Center. The retro-looking strip mall is where a blade wielding Johnny Depp considered opening up a beauty salon in the 1990 film Edward Scissorhands.

A Hands Home Is His Castle

The overly pastel painted neighborhood, which was home to Ed's adoptive family, is a forty-minute drive away in Lutz, Florida. You will not find any animal topiaries dotting the cul-de-sac called Tinsmith Circle, but there is a dead end where the castle in the movie would have been located. It is nothing more than a marshy, grassy area. However, it is nice to see that, as the old adage goes, you can still sell swampland in Florida - if only to movie audiences.
