Spooked by a surge of other horror distractions, Haunted Mansion looms abandoned in the Orlando shadows. Overgrown weeds and a killer tree in the parking lot add to its horrifying presence.

While operational it dared brave souls to walk it's creaking floors, dark halls and smoky rooms as live actors attempted to scare the bat crap out of you. About half way through the castle you were given a chance to catch your breath at a snack bar and play some pinball before an elevator descended you back down to ground level.

A free feature to this attraction was an antique horror museum which exhibited human shrunken heads, a gypsy torture chair, vampire killing kit, two headed calf along with memorabilia from the ABC series "Dark Shadows."

They died trying.
