Boston's Goose Is Cooked

Granary Cemetery is the final resting place of some of the greatest names in American History. John Hancock, Paul Revere and Samuel Adams (yeah-right, the beer guy) all share shady plots alongside the victims of the Boston Massacre.

Tourists from around the world visit the cemetery yearly. Small flag markers clue them in as to where the really good dead people are. One grave in particular draws quite a crowd. It is the rumored resting place of Mother Goose.

Only rumored because Bostonians are not convinced the body is where the Mary Goose headstone is. They know she is in the cemetery somewhere, but probably not there. Historians argue she was never from Boston in the first place. Others claim no one knows just who this Mother Goose person was. The issue has ruffled many feathers.

House Of Cods

Just around the corner at the State House, things also seem a bit fishy.

Inside, a five-foot long codfish hangs over the House of Representatives chamber. It was placed there less everyone forget the importance of cod to the state's economy. The fish points to the party in power and has become an essential part of lawmaking in Massachusetts. When it was stolen in 1933, business ceased for four days until the fish was returned to his docking station.
